FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 20, 2009
The World Wakeboard Association (WWA) along with Governor LRay Villafuerte Jr. and the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC) have again partnered to bring you the 2009 WWA Wake Park Worlds to be held on March 24th – 29th, 2009 in the beautiful province of Camarines Sur, Philippines.
Alongside the 2009 WWA Wake Park World Championships pulled behind the cable, CWC will again host the first stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series during the same week. The CamSur Rider’s Cup will kick off the World Series behind the boat, with all of the world’s top riders competing for a chance to become the WWA Wakeboard World Series champion at the end of the season.
Since the completion of the CWC Rail Park, the five-day event will also include one of the most highly anticipated contests behind the revolutionary Sesitec System 2.0 with three professional and three amateur divisions.
During the week, the Professional Men Wakeboarders will be collecting points to determine an overall winner of the entire event. The divisions that will be included for the Pro Men Wakeboard category will be the Pro Men Wakeboard division during the CamSur Rider’s Cup (boat), the Pro Men division in the WWA Wake Park World Championships (cable), the Obstacles Only division during the WWA Wake Park World Championships (cable), and the Pro Men Wakeboard division of the CWC Rail Park Contest (System 2.0). The rider with the most cumulative points in these four divisions at the end of the event will collect an additional $8,000 USD!
There will be a similar cumulative race during the week with the Professional Wakeskaters as well. They will be competing in three divisions to crown and overall winner in the wakeskate category. The divisions will include the Pro Wakeskate division during the CamSur Rider’s Cup (boat), the Pro Wakeskate division during the WWA Wake Park World Championships (cable), and the Pro Wakeskate division during the CWC Rail Park Contest (System 2.0). The WWA and CWC are proud to bring you largest collective wakeboarding event to date. The combination of a WWA Wake Park World Championships, the CamSur Rider’s Cup, and the recently completed CWC rail park will allow for this event to be the first contest to crown an overall winner for all disciplines in the sport. There will be an overall champion in the Pro Men Wakeboard and Pro Men Wakeskate divisions. The Pro and it will be determined based on 4 separate divisions behind the cable, boat and winch throughout the week.
In July of 2008, the CamSur Watersports Complex set the stage and crowned the WWA World Championship titles for 15 divisions for the first ever WWA Wake Park World Championships held outside the United States. 256 riders from 19 countries all across the globe came to enjoy all of the riding, festivities, day trips, and all that the Philippines has to offer.
