Malibu Pro Team Challenge

The Malibu Pro Team Challenge will be a wakeboard event like none other featuring the top professional riders in the sport competing for their respective board manufacturers for pride and, most importantly, for $25,000 in cash!

The competition will include three different disciplines of the sport - a double-up contest, a traditional on-the-water contest and a winch powered pool gap/rail jam. It will take place at a location that is recognized worldwide as a premiere water sports "theme" park, Cypress Gardens Adventure Park in Winter Haven, Florida.

The Teams
The competing teams will be representing the top wakeboard manufacturers in the sport. Scheduled to compete are pro riders representing Hyperlite, Liquid Force, CWB, Ronix and Gator Boards.

The Prize
The winning team will split a $25,000* grand prize which will make the Malibu Pro Team Challenge one of the biggest single event purses in the sport of wakeboarding.

The Schedule

Friday, August 10th

  • 4:30pm "Big Air" Double-Up Contest

    Saturday, August 11th -

  • 11:30 am-3pm - Traditional on-the-water boat competition
  • 6pm-8pm - Wakeboard Rail Jam
  • 8:30pm - Awards Ceremony and Live Concert

    Contest Format

    Each team will select three riders to compete in each discipline depending on the riders' strengths. Riders can compete in more then one event if desired/needed. With five teams competing, each event will feature fifteen riders. Riders will be divided into three heats of five with the top two advancing to round two and top one advancing to the finals. Heats will be decided by blind drawing.

    Points will be given to riders who advance in each round at an escalating scale. The higher the round, the more points awarded.

    Round 1 - All riders start with 5 points
    Semi-finals - 10 additional points
    Finals - 15 additional points
    1st Place - 25 additional points
    2nd Place - 15 additional points
    3rd Place - 10 additional points

    The highest total number of points that could be earned by any rider in each event is 55. The lowest total number of points that could be earned by any rider in each event is 5.

    This will be a "Winner Take All" format with a $25,000.00 cash purse awarded to the team that earns the most points. In the event of a tie, the purse will be split between the winning teams.*
