Jägermeister Wake Riderz - Results

The third edition off the Jägermeister Wake Riderz was organised at Lido-Almere again. Compared to the other editions before, the event started already the night before with a night ride and pre party. After the party it was time to wake up and start the competition. The level of riding is getting stronger and stronger every year. Last year Sjors van de Kerkhof was the best overall rider. Coming back of a knee injury Sjors couldn’t do it again this year. Local rider and European Cable Wakeboard Tour winner Mike Ketellapper was the strongest in all disciplines.

The competition is known for his three disciplines; best trick, big air and obstacle contest. From the qualifications six riders where placed into the finals where they battled for the podium. Mike Ketellapper was unbeatable again by winning all three disciplines. In the best trick discipline Mike placed himself in front of Marcel Doorgeest (KGB and S-bend to blind) and UK rider Christian “CK” Koester (313 and front to blind) with a KGB and a switch S-bend to blind.

Third at the obstacle contest was UK rider Richie Hiney with a BS 360 over the slider, a huge BS 360 over the kicker and a stylish transfer on the funbox. Marcel Doorgeest did a fronstside boardslide 540 over the slider, whirley 540 over the kicker and transferring the funbox with a frontside boardslide 270 out. Also here it wasn’t enough to beat Mike Ketellapper. Mike won the obstacle contest with a fronside boardslide, 900 over the kicker and frontside boardslide 270 out.

The last category was the big air. Where the riders got on the Indian rope to bust the biggest air. Dutch riders Marcel Doorgeest, Jan Kerkhoven and Mike Ketellapper are the winners in this discipline. Mike was the highest one (7,50 m) before Jan (7,20 m) and Marcel (7,10 m).
