2007 Tige Pro-Am - Day 1 of 3

CANCUN, Mexico — Over 30 riders took the water of La Isla Mall today for the first day of competition at the 2007 Tigé Pro-Am Wakeboard Championships, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink

The fifth annual pro-am contest kicked off with the quarterfinal rounds of the Pro Wakeskate and Women’s Wakeskate Divisions. Nick Taylor paced the Pro Wakeskate Division today with a score of 67.00, while Megan McNeil led the Women’s Wakeskate Division with a score of 63.33. Both riders will advance to tomorrow’s semifinal rounds.

The Junior Men division also hit the water today for their quarterfinals. Jimmy LaRiche took control out on the water leading the way with a score of 65.00. LaRiche will join eight other junior riders in tomorrow’s semifinal round.

The first day of competition concluded with the qualifying round for the Pro Men’s Division. Bryan Hutton, set the bar high for the Cancun contest, leading all riders today with a score of 93.00. He will join the rest of the Pro Men tomorrow for the opening round of the “skins” format.
