Texan Makes Waves at Hometown Event

By WSM Press Release

Fort Worth, TX- Homerun, fastball, and RBI are just a few of the terms that former University of Houston baseball standout Gabe Lucas was used to hearing. Now, terms like Whirlybird, KGB, and Moby Dick surround the Texas native as he is one the top riders to compete in this weekend's 2007 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour at Fort Worth.

"It's always great to compete in Texas; baseball, wakeboarding, or otherwise," said Lucas. "When I compete locally, my friends and family come watch me and that support helps me to perform better."

That support indeed came through for Lucas today as he advanced past the qualifying rounds for the Pro Men's division. The third-year pro wakeboarder beat out four other riders from his heat to proceed to tomorrow's quarter finals. Lucas looks to continue his success as he joins the 39 other riders competing on day two of the competition out on the waters of Lake Moser.

The Jr. Men's division held their qualifying round today as well. After capturing the top spot at the tour's previous stop, Jr. Men's division leader A.J. Racinelli continued his winning streak in Fort Worth, as he led his heat today to advance past the opening round of competition. Racinelli and the 19 other Jr. Men riders to will compete in tomorrow's quarter finals.

Day two of the 2007 MasterCraft Pro Tour will begin at 10:00 tomorrow morning.

Fort Worth is the second event of the 2007 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour. Following Fort Worth, the tour will proceed northward to Twin Cities, Minnesota (June 16-17), Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada (July 7-8), and conclude in Portland, Oregon (July 21-22). The dash to be the world's top rider features a $10,000 bonus for the season winner.
